International Comparisons in Economic Well-Being among Advanced Industrialized Countries

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss the work on the Levy Institute Measure of Economic Well-Being (LIMEW) for five countries: Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Participants will present the estimates for individual countries; provide bilateral comparisons between the United States and each of the other countries; discuss the role of government expenditures and taxation as well as wealth in shaping the level and distribution of economic well-being; provide a technical overview of the quality of the statistical matching technique used in creating the core synthetic microdata files; and plan for the dissemination of the methodology and results from the project.
